Used primarily to treat high blood pressure, especially in pregnant women with hypertension. It works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily. Commonly prescribed for gestational hypertension and preeclampsia due to its safety profile during pregnancy. Also used when other antihypertensive drugs are not suitable. May be used in combination with other blood pressure medications for better control.
