Supports the growth of injured Salmonella cells while suppressing competing flora when selective agents are added. Commonly used in food safety testing, especially for samples like spices, dried foods, and animal feed where pathogens may be stressed or damaged. Often used as a secondary enrichment step following pre-enrichment in a non-selective broth. Compatible with downstream plating on selective agar media for confirmation.
