Used as a precursor in vapor deposition processes for germanium-containing thin films, particularly in semiconductor manufacturing. Its high reactivity and volatility make it suitable for low-temperature deposition of germanium nitride and germanium carbide layers, which are useful in microelectronics and protective coatings. Also investigated for doping applications and in the synthesis of germanium-based nanomaterials due to its ability to release germanium under controlled thermal decomposition.
