description Product Description

Prosulfuron is a selective herbicide used primarily in agriculture to control broadleaf weeds and some grasses in crops such as corn. It belongs to the sulfonylurea class of herbicides, which work by inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), disrupting the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids essential for plant growth. This mode of action leads to the cessation of cell division and growth in susceptible weeds, resulting in their death.

It is commonly applied pre- or post-emergence and is effective at low application rates, making it cost-efficient and reducing environmental load. Prosulfuron provides control of key weed species like kochia, pigweed, and lambsquarters, which are often resistant to other herbicide classes. Due to its soil residual activity, it offers extended weed control, helping to reduce the need for multiple applications.

Its selectivity allows it to be safely used in tolerant crops like field corn and silage corn without significant crop injury when applied according to label directions. Prosulfuron is often included in integrated weed management programs, especially where resistance management is a concern. It can be used in tank mixes with other herbicides to broaden the spectrum of weed control and improve efficacy.
