description Product Description

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is widely used as a reagent and solvent in organic synthesis. It is particularly effective in deprotection reactions, such as removing Boc (tert-butoxycarbonyl) protecting groups from amines in peptide synthesis. TFA is also employed in the preparation of trifluoroacetyl derivatives, which are useful intermediates in pharmaceutical and agrochemical manufacturing. Its strong acidity and ability to dissolve a wide range of organic compounds make it valuable in catalysis and in the synthesis of fluorinated compounds. Additionally, TFA is used as an ion-pairing agent in reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for the separation of peptides and proteins. Due to its volatility, it can be easily removed from reaction mixtures by evaporation, simplifying purification processes.
