Used primarily to treat high blood pressure and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily, which helps lower blood pressure. It also relaxes muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate for men with BPH. Often prescribed to improve urine flow and reduce the need for frequent nighttime urination. May be used alone or with other blood pressure medications.
