2‑Mercaptothiophene (FEMA‑3062) is an extremely powerful sulfurous note (thiol) with rubbery, smoky onion/garlic and burnt match nuances. In minute traces it can add impact and savory depth to smoky woods, tobacco and gourmand accords—overuse is very harsh.
