Used as a building block in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for gas storage and separation due to its rigid structure and nitrogen-rich sites. Also applied in supramolecular chemistry for constructing hydrogen-bonded networks. Shows potential in sensing applications, particularly for metal ions in environmental and biological systems. Investigated for catalytic supports owing to its stability and coordination ability with transition metals.
