Used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in adults who have not responded well to other disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). It works by blocking the interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor, reducing inflammation and slowing joint damage. Also investigated for use in other inflammatory conditions and cytokine-driven diseases. Administered as a subcutaneous injection.
