description Product Description
Used in thermoelectric devices due to its high efficiency in converting heat to electricity, especially in alloys like bismuth telluride for cooling and power generation. Added to lead, steel, and copper alloys to improve machinability and corrosion resistance. Employed in cadmium telluride (CdTe) solar cells, which are a low-cost, thin-film photovoltaic technology widely used in solar power installations. Used in the glass industry to eliminate the greenish tint caused by iron impurities, producing clearer, more transparent glass. Utilized in infrared detectors and optical fibers for its semiconductor properties. Also found in certain types of rewritable optical media and phase-change memory devices. Limited use in rubber vulcanization and as a catalyst in chemical reactions.
