description Product Description
Used as an oxidizing agent in organic synthesis, particularly in the allylic oxidation of unsaturated compounds to form allylic alcohols. Commonly employed in the production of selenium-containing pharmaceuticals and dyes. Acts as a catalyst or reagent in the preparation of specialty chemicals and in the synthesis of vitamin C. Also utilized in the glass industry to decolorize glass and to counteract the green tint caused by iron impurities. In metallurgy, it serves in the refining of selenium and as a component in some electroplating baths. Additionally, finds use in analytical chemistry for the detection and determination of certain organic compounds.
