Also employed in the synthesis of tellurium-containing nanomaterials and semiconductors due to its role as a precursor. In research, it serves in studies of oxidative stress and metal toxicity in cells because it generates reactive oxygen species. Occasionally used in electroplating and as a sensitizer in photographic processes.
