description Product Description

Used in medicine to treat cyanide poisoning by converting cyanide into less toxic thiocyanate, which is then excreted in urine. Also employed in emergency treatment of certain types of poisoning during medical procedures. Commonly used in water treatment to remove chlorine and chloramine from water, especially in aquariums and wastewater systems, protecting aquatic life. Widely applied in photography as a fixing agent to dissolve unexposed silver halides from photographic film and paper during development. Used in analytical chemistry for iodometric titrations, where it reacts with iodine to determine the concentration of oxidizing agents. Also utilized in textile industries for bleaching and dechlorinating processes, and in mining to extract gold from ore through a non-toxic leaching method.
