This reference monoclonal antibody (zampilimab) targets and neutralizes transglutaminase 2 (TGM2/TG2), an enzyme central to the autoimmune response in celiac disease triggered by gluten. It is primarily used in biopharmaceutical research and development to investigate TGM2's role, measure, inhibit, or track its activity in cellular and tissue models. By preventing TGM2 from modifying gluten peptides, it helps model the reduction of immune activation that damages the intestinal lining, supporting studies on improving tolerance to accidental gluten exposure. As a benchmark, it aids in developing therapeutic antibodies for celiac disease and related autoimmune conditions, serving as a potential adjunct to gluten-free diets.
