Used in the treatment of cancer, particularly in solid tumors resistant to immune checkpoint inhibitors. It functions by selectively neutralizing the latent form of TGFβ1, a cytokine that suppresses immune responses in the tumor microenvironment. By inhibiting TGFβ1 activation, the antibody helps restore anti-tumor immunity, allowing T cells and other immune cells to infiltrate and attack the tumor. Currently under clinical development for advanced or metastatic cancers, especially in combination with other immunotherapies. Shows promise in overcoming resistance mechanisms and improving patient response rates in immunologically "cold" tumors.
