The extracellular domain of human IL-6Rβ (CD130, gp130) binds to the IL-6/IL-6Rα complex and related ligand-receptor complexes, enabling investigation of receptor-ligand interactions and downstream JAK/STAT activation. Employed in immunoassays, protein-protein interaction studies, and as a capture or detection reagent in ELISA and surface plasmon resonance. Due to the Fc tag, it can be easily detected with anti-Fc antibodies and purified using protein A/G affinity methods. Also used in therapeutic development to evaluate blocking agents or neutralizing antibodies targeting IL-6 signaling.
