Used as a bridging ligand in coordination chemistry to construct metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and supramolecular architectures. Its dual pyridyl groups enable coordination with metal ions, facilitating the formation of extended networks with potential applications in gas storage, catalysis, and molecular sensing. Also investigated in the design of porous materials for selective adsorption and in the development of luminescent complexes due to its rigid yet flexible spacer structure.
