Used as a ligand in organometallic chemistry, particularly in catalysis. Its derivatives stabilize metal complexes in homogeneous catalytic reactions, such as hydrogenation and C–C bond formation. Also investigated for use in agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals due to its bioactive scaffold. Shows potential in the development of corrosion inhibitors and in coordination chemistry for designing functional materials.
