(S)-Lansoprazole, also known as Levolansoprazole, is primarily used in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. It is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that effectively reduces stomach acid production. This makes it highly beneficial in managing conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), where it helps alleviate symptoms like heartburn and acid regurgitation. It is also prescribed for the healing of erosive esophagitis, providing relief and promoting recovery of the esophageal lining.
