Used primarily in the production of synthetic rubber, especially chloroprene rubber (neoprene). Neoprene is valued for its resistance to oil, heat, ozone, and weathering, making it ideal for automotive hoses, belts, seals, and gaskets. It is also used in wire and cable insulation, adhesives, and protective coatings. Due to its flexibility and durability at varying temperatures, it finds application in wetsuits, gaskets, and industrial molded products. Its chemical stability allows use in demanding environments where ordinary rubbers degrade.
