Widely used in dental applications as a photoinitiator in light-curable resin formulations. When exposed to blue light in the 400–500 nm range, it initiates the polymerization of monomers in composite resins, sealants, and adhesives, enabling rapid hardening during restorative procedures. Its efficiency in generating free radicals under visible light makes it ideal for clinical use where depth of cure and handling time are critical. Also employed in some 3D printing resins requiring visible light activation.
