Used as a chiral ligand in asymmetric catalysis, particularly in enantioselective hydrogenation reactions. Its rigid dinaphthophosphepine backbone and bulky naphthyl groups provide excellent stereocontrol, making it valuable in the synthesis of optically active pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. Commonly employed with rhodium or ruthenium complexes to achieve high enantioselectivity in the production of chiral amines and other intermediates.
