Used as a chiral ligand in asymmetric catalysis, particularly in transition metal-catalyzed reactions such as rhodium- or ruthenium-mediated enantioselective hydrogenations. Its phosphine-oxazoline structure provides excellent stereocontrol, making it valuable in the synthesis of optically active pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. The bulky tert-butyl and diphenylphosphine groups enhance steric and electronic tuning, improving catalyst selectivity and activity.
