Used as a ligand in transition metal catalysis, particularly in palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. It stabilizes active catalytic species and enhances reaction efficiency in C–C bond formations such as Suzuki and Heck reactions. Its bulky phosphine groups improve catalyst longevity and selectivity. Also employed in the synthesis of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals where high catalytic activity under mild conditions is required.
