Used as a ligand in transition metal catalysis, particularly in palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. Its extended aromatic structure and electron-rich thiophene groups enhance metal coordination, improving catalyst stability and reactivity. Commonly applied in C–C bond formation reactions such as Suzuki and Heck couplings. Also explored in photoredox catalysis and organic electronic materials due to its rigid, conjugated framework.
