Also prescribed for various neuropsychiatric disorders involving hyperdopaminergic states, including chronic schizophrenia in elderly patients, behavioral disturbances in dementia, and agitation in older adults. Its favorable side effect profile, with lower risk of extrapyramidal symptoms compared to other antipsychotics, makes it suitable for geriatric use. Additionally employed off-label for tics and chorea in movement disorders, and sometimes used in the treatment of nausea and vomiting due to its antiemetic properties.
