description Product Description

Used primarily in the management of acromegaly, especially in patients who do not respond adequately to surgery or radiation. It helps reduce growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels. Also used to control symptoms associated with neuroendocrine tumors, such as those found in carcinoid syndrome, by reducing flushing, diarrhea, and other hormone-related symptoms. Employed in the treatment of severe diarrhea associated with VIPomas and other metastatic neuroendocrine tumors. May be used off-label to manage bleeding from esophageal varices in patients with liver cirrhosis due to its ability to reduce portal pressure. Also utilized in nuclear medicine as a radiolabeled analog for imaging somatostatin receptor-positive tumors.
