Used primarily in the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and in men to reduce the risk of fractures. It helps increase bone mass by inhibiting bone resorption through suppression of osteoclast activity. Also used in the management of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis and to prevent bone complications in patients with cancer that has spread to the bones. Administered either orally or via intravenous injection depending on the condition and patient needs.
