Used primarily in the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema, to help relax the muscles in the airways and improve breathing. It is also employed in the treatment of asthma, often in combination with other bronchodilators, to prevent and control symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath. Commonly delivered via inhalation through a nebulizer or metered-dose inhaler, it acts locally in the lungs with minimal systemic absorption, reducing the risk of side effects. Additionally, it may be used off-label for managing acute bronchospasm and as a nasal spray to reduce excessive rhinorrhea (runny nose) in certain conditions.
