Used primarily in the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and in men to reduce the risk of fractures, particularly vertebral fractures. It helps increase bone mass by inhibiting bone resorption through suppression of osteoclast activity. Also used in the management of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis and for the treatment of Paget’s disease of bone, where it normalizes elevated bone turnover markers and relieves bone pain. Administered either orally or via intravenous infusion depending on the condition and patient needs.
