Used primarily in medicine to reduce salivation during surgical procedures and to manage chronic drooling in patients with neuromuscular disorders. It is also employed as a preoperative agent to minimize airway secretions and prevent bradycardia during anesthesia. In addition, glycopyrrolate is used in the treatment of peptic ulcers due to its ability to reduce gastric acid secretion by blocking muscarinic receptors in the stomach. It is preferred in some clinical settings over similar agents because it does not cross the blood-brain barrier easily, resulting in fewer central nervous system side effects.
