Used in steel production as a deoxidizer and alloying agent to improve strength and corrosion resistance. Added to cast iron to enhance fluidity and reduce shrinkage during casting. Employed in the manufacture of phosphor bronze and other copper alloys to increase hardness and wear resistance. Also utilized in some welding rod coatings to stabilize the arc and improve weld quality.
