Used in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. It helps maintain normal heart rhythm in patients who have recently experienced these conditions. Dronedarone hydrochloride is prescribed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular hospitalization in individuals with paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter who have returned to normal sinus rhythm. It is not intended for patients with permanent atrial fibrillation or those with severe heart failure. The compound works by affecting electrical activity in the heart, prolonging action potential duration and refractory period, thereby helping to prevent recurrence of abnormal rhythms.
