Effective against susceptible strains of bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Haemophilus influenzae. Commonly prescribed in oral form for mild to moderate infections, especially in pediatric patients due to its favorable taste and dosing regimen. Not effective against viral infections or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
