Used primarily to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis. Also used in managing hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma or primary hyperparathyroidism when surgery is not an option. Works by lowering parathyroid hormone, calcium, and phosphorus levels in the blood, reducing the risk of bone and cardiovascular complications.
