Used to treat urinary retention by stimulating bladder muscle contractions, especially after surgery or in conditions involving underactive bladder. Also prescribed for gastrointestinal motility disorders to enhance gastric emptying and intestinal movement. Occasionally used off-label for dry mouth caused by Sjögren's syndrome or certain medications. Administered orally or subcutaneously, it acts selectively on muscarinic receptors without significantly affecting the central nervous system.
