Used primarily as an antifungal agent in the treatment of nail infections, particularly onychomycosis. It works by disrupting the fungal cell membrane and cell wall synthesis, leading to inhibition of fungal growth. Due to its ability to penetrate the nail plate effectively, it is commonly formulated in topical nail lacquers or solutions for localized treatment. Its long-lasting effect allows for less frequent application, often once or twice weekly, improving patient compliance. Amorolfine hydrochloride is effective against a broad spectrum of dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds responsible for nail infections.
