Tegaserod maleate improves bowel movement frequency and alleviates abdominal discomfort. It has also been investigated for use in chronic constipation and certain gastrointestinal motility disorders. Due to cardiovascular risk concerns, its use is restricted and typically reserved for short-term treatment under strict medical supervision.
