Used primarily as an insect growth regulator in pest control, especially in agriculture and forestry. It interferes with chitin synthesis in insects, preventing proper formation of the exoskeleton during molting. This leads to death of the pest during development stages. Effective against a range of lepidopteran and coleopteran pests, it is applied in crop protection for vegetables, fruits, and ornamental plants. Also used in baits and sprays for termite control in urban and structural environments. Due to its targeted mode of action, it has low toxicity to mammals and beneficial insects when used as directed.
