description Product Description
Anilofos is primarily used as a selective herbicide in rice cultivation. It effectively controls a wide range of annual grassy and broadleaf weeds, especially in transplanted and direct-seeded rice fields. The chemical works by inhibiting acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), an enzyme essential for fatty acid synthesis in plants, leading to the disruption of cell membrane formation and ultimately plant death.
It is particularly effective against troublesome weeds such as Echinochloa crus-galli (barnyard grass), Cyperus spp., and other sedge species. Anilofos is usually applied post-emergence, either as a foliar spray or soil application, depending on the formulation and cropping system.
Due to its selectivity, it shows minimal phytotoxicity to rice plants when used at recommended doses, making it a valuable tool in integrated weed management programs. Its moderate persistence in soil allows for effective weed control without causing long-term residue issues, although proper application timing and dosage are crucial to avoid potential crop injury or environmental impact.
