Used in clinical research for the treatment of various solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. Demonstrated antitumor activity in melanoma, colorectal cancer, and non-small cell lung cancer during phase I and II trials. Functions by inhibiting microtubule depolymerization, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells. Investigated both as a monotherapy and in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents to enhance efficacy. Development was discontinued due to limited overall survival benefit in later-stage trials, but it contributed to the understanding of antimitotic agents in oncology.
