Used primarily in the treatment of multiple myeloma, especially in patients who have not responded to other therapies such as lenalidomide or bortezomib. It functions by modulating the immune system, inhibiting tumor cell proliferation, and promoting apoptosis in cancer cells. Pomalidomide is often administered in combination with dexamethasone to enhance its effectiveness. Due to its teratogenic potential, it is distributed under a strict risk evaluation and mitigation strategy (REMS) program to prevent fetal exposure.
