Used as a catalyst precursor in homogeneous catalysis, particularly in olefin metathesis and hydrogenation reactions. Exhibits high activity in ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of cyclic olefins, enabling the synthesis of functional polymers with controlled architectures. Also employed in the development of ruthenium-based complexes for organic transformations such as cross-coupling and C–H activation.
