Used as a neuromuscular blocking agent in surgical procedures to induce muscle relaxation and facilitate endotracheal intubation. It acts as a non-depolarizing agent by competitively blocking acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction. Commonly administered during anesthesia to improve surgical access and mechanical ventilation. Its effects can be reversed with anticholinesterase agents like neostigmine.
