Used as a contrast agent in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to enhance the clarity of internal body structures, particularly in detecting tumors, inflammation, and blood vessel abnormalities. Its paramagnetic properties improve image quality by altering the relaxation times of nearby water protons. Also employed in neutron capture therapy for cancer treatment due to its high neutron absorption cross-section. Additionally, found in some industrial applications such as in the production of electronic components and as a dopant in solid-state devices.
