Used in the treatment of neovascular eye diseases such as wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and macular edema following retinal vein occlusion (RVO). It functions by inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), a key mediator in abnormal blood vessel formation and vascular permeability in the retina. By blocking VEGFA, it reduces retinal thickening, prevents leakage, and slows vision loss. Administered via intravitreal injection, it helps maintain or improve visual acuity in affected patients. Also used off-label or in investigational settings for other retinal conditions involving pathological angiogenesis.
