Used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It modulates B-cell activity by targeting CD22 on the surface of B lymphocytes, leading to reduced B-cell activation and infiltration into tissues. This results in decreased autoantibody production and inflammation. The antibody is investigated for its ability to provide clinical benefit with a favorable safety profile, showing potential in reducing disease activity without broad immunosuppression. It has also been studied in B-cell malignancies and other autoimmune conditions such as Sjögren's syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis.
