Used in the treatment of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in adults who have had an inadequate response to disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). It works by blocking the interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor, reducing inflammation and slowing joint damage. Also investigated for use in other inflammatory conditions such as giant cell arteritis and cytokine release syndrome. Administered subcutaneously, it helps improve physical function and reduce symptoms like joint pain and swelling.
