Used for the treatment of primary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare and life-threatening immune disorder. It works by neutralizing interferon-gamma (IFNγ), which is overproduced in HLH and contributes to severe inflammation and organ damage. This antibody is especially indicated in patients with refractory, recurrent, or progressive disease, or those who are intolerant to conventional therapy. It helps control immune system overactivation, reducing symptoms and improving survival rates. Often used as a bridge to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
