Used in the treatment of allergic diseases and certain B-cell malignancies, this antibody targets CD23 (FcεRII), a receptor involved in IgE regulation. By blocking CD23, it modulates IgE-mediated allergic responses, making it a candidate for conditions like allergic asthma and atopic dermatitis. It has also been investigated in clinical trials for chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, where CD23 is overexpressed on malignant B cells. The antibody mediates cell death through mechanisms such as antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and may enhance the effectiveness of other therapies when used in combination.
